Uniting Streams is a Workgroup on Field Research in International Health within the Dutch Society for Tropical Medicine & International Health (NVTG).

Goals:
- To promote (multidisciplinary) scientific interaction in the field of International Health, both between researchers in the Netherlands and with their colleagues abroad.
- To facilitate the planning, execution and output of International Health-related field research through a peer-to-peer network aimed at exchanging mutual experience and expertise, as well as shared resources.
- To create a platform for the dissemination of scientific results of field research in Tropical Medicine and International Health

Members:
Our members consist of researchers in all fields of science related to International Health: e.g. medicine, biomedical science, public health, sociology, medical anthropology, health systems, health economics, entomology, etc. Most members are, have been, or plan to be actively involved in field research. Our members include junior and senior scientists affiliated to institutes all over The Netherlands, but also some based abroad. A large proportion of our members are young researchers (including many PhDs and graduate students) starting their careers in International Health research. Membership is free and non-committal. Members are included in the Uniting Streams E-mail distribution list in order to receive updates about upcoming Uniting Streams events.

Activities:
- Uniting Streams Symposium on Research in International Health – this annual one-day event is the only multidisciplinary forum in the Netherlands for the dissemination of scientific research related to International Health. Each year, a current theme is chosen for the plenary session with invited keynote-speakers, followed by parallel sessions for the presentation of selected abstracts. Priority is given to junior researchers (graduate students, PhDs and post-docs) to present their work.
- Uniting Streams Workgroup on Tour (WoT) – a series of seminars and workshops organised by individual institutions within the network, on (multidisciplinary) topics related to field research in International Health
- Website & online discussion forum – open to all members of the network for information on Uniting Streams activities and discussions, comments or advice on any topic related to field research in International Health.
